Legislation (Senate 1317) has been filed with the Legislature that would allow school nurses to receive creditable service for any non-school experience in the nursing field. Eligible members would be required to pay an amount equal to 10 percent of regular annual compensation as of their most recent date of entry into membership in the retirement system plus buyback interest on that amount.
This survey is being conducted so that MTA leaders can better assess the number of nurses interested in purchasing this service. This data is needed to lobby effectively for the passage of this bill. This survey should take less than five minutes to complete and will support current lobbying efforts.
